2026 – 2028 TivuSat Viewing Card Upgrade Scheduled
Starting on the 1st Quarter of 2026 Italian Satellite TV Provider Tivusat will be shutting down older versions of its Tivusat Viewing Cards.
This may require some users to Upgrade both their Tivusat Satellite Receivers and Viewing Cards. The switch off of old viewing cards will start in 2026 and continue until 2028
The Announcement has been released on the Official Tivusat Website.
The television industry, like many other highly technological sectors, is constantly evolving: screens are becoming larger and more powerful, audio and video content is reaching ever higher quality standards, distribution is expanding across a variety of platforms (satellite, digital terrestrial, streaming), while the tools to combat piracy are becoming stronger.
In this scenario, some technologies are now outdated and must be replaced with more modern, secure, and efficient solutions. These include tivùsat smartcards with “Tiger” technology , used in conjunction with certified devices.
You can check to see if your card and receiver will be effected by clicking HERE and entering your Viewing Card Number.

Starting in the first quarter of 2026, the technical services that enable the use of Tiger smartcards will be progressively phased out, with completion expected by 2028. This phaseout is a consequence of the decision by the Tiger technology provider to permanently cease support for them: a decision beyond tivùsat’s control and over which the company has no influence.
Therefore, Tiger smartcards will gradually cease to function . To continue watching all satellite channels for free, It is now possible to choose between the various tivùsat smartcards on the market combined with a tivùsat-certified device.
We encourage all users to regularly consult the official tivùsat website to stay informed about the schedule and implementation of the shutdown process.
