Japanese TV

In the UK and Europe we do not have much choice when it comes to being able to view TV channels from Japan via satellite. In fact only one Free to Air channel is available on the Astra 1 satellite at 19° East called NHK World.

NHK World is the International satellite TV service for NHK (Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai – Japan Broadcasting Corporation). Programmes are mostly news based but also include music, culture and lifestyle programmes as well.

To receive NHK world in the UK is quite simple as all you require is a 60cm satellite dish and a satellite receiver such as a Technisat. For advice and help with installation we can assist you with this as well.

As well as the Free to Air channel NHK World their are 2 other channels on the Hotbird Satellite at 13° East called JSTV. Unlike NHK World JSTV requires a viewing card to be able to unscramble and view the channels.

JSTV (Japan Satellite Television) is spread over 2 channels JSTV 1 and JSTV 2 and are subscription based.

In addition to the subscription you will also require a satellite dish (we recommend an 80cm dish) and a satellite receiver with either a Conax card reader or the facility to add a Conax Cam.

We can help advise and supply you with the correct equipment and installation.

JSTV provides a variety of different programmes.
